Poroshenko banned the export of timber

The President Poroshenko signed the law on the moratorium on the export of rough timber and wood products.

According to the status of the law on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, the document was delivered to the Parliament with the President’s signature on July 7.

The bill was submitted to the Parliament back on December 10 last year, its authors were 11 deputies from different factions.

Previously, manufacturers of furniture and woodworking enterprises association demanded Poroshenko to sign the law as soon as possible since the delay, they said, negatively affected the furniture industry of the country.

In turn, the chairman of the Committee on Environmental Policy Mykola Tomenko even filed a claim to court because of the Speaker Volodtmyr Groisman failure to sign the document and send it to the President.
