Oscar winning film maker gave lectures to Transcarpathian students

This week, 70-year-old Marcellus Jankovic delivered lectures to the students of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Institute in Beregovo, reported Mukachevo.net.  Famous Hungarian animator is the winner of "Oscar" for the animation film "Syzyf" (1976) and winner of Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival for the film "Struggle" (1977).

Students could see a new work of the film maker – the animated film "The Tragedy of Man" (2011), for which Marcellus Jankovic won the prize of the National Association of Hungarian Journalists.
Back in the 1970’s Yankovic began to research the history of Hungarian culture. His main themes are fairy tales, symbolism, mythology, archeology, religion, folk beliefs, sacred art. He has published 15 books on this subject.

In 1992 Marcellus Jankovic co-founded the largest Hungarian TV channel Duna TV, since 1995, he has been the artistic director and later the director of the Hungarian Pannonia Film Studio.In 1998-2000 he was the chairman of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary, and also the prezident of Hungarian Cultural Society and the president of the St. Istvan Fund (since 2006).
