Transcarpathian police together with the Security Service of Ukraine detained the head of one of the departments of the regional State Land Registry for bribery (PHOTOS)

Detectives of the Transcarpathian Police Investigation Department, together with officers of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region, detained an official of the State Land Registry. Procedural actions were carried out under the control of the regional prosecutor’s office.  
Yesterday, on September 3, detectives of the Transcarpathian Police Investigation Department detained the head of one of the departments of the State Land Registry in Transcarpathian region while he was receiving an illegal benefit in the amount of 14 thousand hryvnias. During the pre-trial investigation, the police found out that the 62-year-old resident of the village of Dovhe, Irshava district, entered into corruption relations with an entrepreneur who intended to carry out agribusiness in Transcarpathia. Having unimpeded access to the information databases of the State Land Registry, the official offered his services to the entrepreneur.  
The official asked one thousand US dollars for allocation and transfer of the land plot of 2 hectares. During a meeting, on September 3, with the operative support of special services of the regional office of the Security Service of Ukraine, detectives of the Transcarpathian Police Investigation Department detained the bribe-taker. Procedural actions were carried out under the control of the Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region. 
The case is currently under pre-trial investigation. The 62-year-old official is reasonably suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie receiving of an illegal benefit by an official using his official position. 
The person involved in the case was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention center. Investigators are preparing relevant materials for the court to impose a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention.  
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for five to ten years with confiscation of property.
