Transcarpathia: morbidity is getting better

Over the past week (22.02 – 01.03.2019), 4,343 people in the region sought medical advice about the signs of acute respiratory infection, the incidence is 41% below the set epidemic threshold. Compared with the previous week, the number of cases decreased by 8% (368 cases).

According to the Head of the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance and Prevention of Infectious Diseases of the Transcarpathian Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Viktoria Tymchyk, the number of cases of acute respiratory infections has decreased in all age categories: both among children and among adults.

Measles morbidity is also decreasing. During the last week, as of February 28, 84 cases of measles have been registered in Transcarpathia. This is 20% less than that in the previous period (84 against 105 cases). Among the infected persons, 50 are children and 34 are adults. Cases of measles were detected in all administrative territories of the region, except for Volovets and Mizhhirya districts. 21 cases of measles in the city of Uzhgorod, 12 – in Khust district, 11 cases – in Uzhgorod district, and 11 – in Perechyn district, in other administrative territories less than 10 cases were detected.
