Last week, a musical performance "Natalka Poltavka" based on the play by I. Kotlyarevsky was presented in the Transcarpathian academic puppet theater "Bavka" in Uzhgorod. It was the premiere of the regional drama and comedy theater from Khust. There were two shows in Uzhgorod – both in the full house.
The performance was produced by Kyiv director Serhiy Arkhipchuk, already known to Uzhgorod residents for his productions in the Transcarpathian regional music and drama theater, in particular, play by Oleksandr Havrosh, "Meine Liebe Vira". Before the show in Uzhgorod, he welcomed the audience.
We did not see a social play with the traditional image of a Ukrainian village, but rather the desire to speak with the viewer in the language of the modern theater. The director made a decoupage – he combined the language of Kotlyarevsky and the dialect of Transcarpathia. Past and present were intertwined even in costumes and set design. Many symbols, sounds and colors. The cast are mostly young actors. The audience gave the actors several encores.
