20 rescuers were evacuating people and extinguishing a fire in the dormitory No. 4

Yesterday at 20:54, the operational rescue service of Transcarpathia received a report of a fire in the dormitory No. 4 of Uzhgorod National University on Universytetska street in Uzhgorod. 

Upon arrival of firefighting crews of the 14th and 15th state fire and rescue units at the scene, it was found out that the fire had started in a utility room on the ground floor of the six-storeyed dormitory building.   The corridors of the dormitory were completely filled with smoke, so the rescuers immediately began to evacuate peopler from the rooms.

In total, 300 people were evacuated.

12 people were rescued using vehicles and retractable ladders. At 21:27, the fire was contained, and at 21:35, it was eliminated. In total, 20 personnel members, 3 units of the main equipment, 1 unit of the special equipment and 1 unit of the auxiliary equipment were engaged in fire extinguishing. 

Nobody died in the fire.

The cause of the fire and the amount of the loss is being established.
