The traditional holiday, the contest of butchers will gather gourmets, cooks and lovers of pork dishes in the village of Hecha, Beregovo district of Transcarpathia.
If you plan your visit and rest in Transcarpathia at the end of January, pay attention to the unique Ukrainian culinary festival of butchers and cooks, which will be held in Beregovo district, in the village of Hecha.
According to the program, early in the morning, teams of butchers, or henteshes, gather in front of the building of the village council and treat the guests with hot wine and home-made vodka. And then, they begin to cook traditional pork dishes.
Date of the festival: January 26, 2019
Location: the village of Hecha, Beregovo district
Time: from the very morning till late evening.
Program of the 2019 Competition-Festival of Butchers:
7.00 – gathering of teams
7.00 – 14.00 – cooking of national Hungarian dishes of pork
7.00 – 18.00 – sales of pork food, demonstration of smoked sausage
10.00 – beginning of the competition, making of sausage
8.00 – 17.00 – tasting of wine by local producers
13.00 – official opening of the festival of butchers
14.00 – 17.00 – entertainment program
17.00 – awarding of the winners of the festival.
According to the Tourist Information Center "Tourinform Transcarpathia", the guests of the butchers festival have the opportunity to buy meat products which promotes the support of entrepreneurs from the surrounding villages, as well as community development, positively affects the preservation of traditions, development of the tourist attractiveness of the village of Hecha and Beregovo district.
