Soon, Ukrainians will be driving in cities with 50 km / h speed limit

Earlier, it was reported that the Cabinet had introduced changes to the Traffic Rules – limited the maximum speed in settlements to 50 km / h, – the Mukachevo.net wrote.

This is enshrined in the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated November 10, 2017, No. 883, which was published on weekends. The Resolution changes the speed limit by amending the Traffic Rules.

As stated, the changes to the Rules will come into force on January 1, 2018. By this time, the relevant services must change the limiting signs on the roads, and drivers must get accustomed to new limits.

The changes to the traffic rules and increase of fines were initiated by the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov after a terrible tragedy in Kharkiv, where a Lexus killed six people.

50 km / h speed limit is in place in most European countries, and in some cases (in city centers, near schools) – even 30 km / h. In addition, scientists have proven that in an accident at 50 km / h, a pedestrian has much higher chances of survival than at a speed of 60 km / h.
