Uzhgorod sports complex "Yunist" is crowded. The Transcarpathian round of the National Children’s Fencing League 10-13 brought together the strongest young musketeers of Ukraine.
On March 11, sword fencers were competing. In addition, the competition is open and fencers from neighboring Slovakia take part in it. Boys in three age categories and the youngest girls were fencing. In total 150 sportsmen were competing on that day.
So in the end, the winner among the youngest girls was Olga Orlova (Kyiv), silver award went to Darya Kurtya from Uzhgorod. Maria Kolesnikova and Lia Kopchuk shared the bronze medal.
In the boys’ "youngest" category (born in 2008 and younger), Anton Bykov from Kyiv won gold medal, Artem Melnyk (Khmelnytsky) finished the second. Maxim Hula from Lviv and Vasyl Havadzyn (Khmelnytsky) shared the third place.
In the category of "younger" fencers, (born in 2004-2005), almost all the awards went to Kyiv athletes. Thus, Denys Zhurov won gold medal, Maxim Mikitenko won silver award, Pavlo Slipchenko took the third place. Stanislav Prysyazhny from Uzhgorod won another bronze medal.
Among the "older" guys, (born in 2004-2005), representative of Kyiv – Timur Krasnyansky won the gold award, defeating in the final Timofiy Kryzhanivsky from Khmelnitsky. Vladislav Balbuz and Mykyta Yeromenko from Kyiv won bronze awards. Two Uzhgorod athletes were in top eight: Danyil Beskorovainy finished the sixth, and Danyil Duma – the seventh.
