Not a week without a corruption scandal. Another corrupt official – this time, of the Tyachiv power company – was caught red-handed in Transcarpathia.
The detention was carried out by officers of the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor’s Office in Transcarpathian region together with officers of the Regional Economy Protection Department.
The head of the Solotvyno Operational District of Tyachiv Department of the "Zakarpattyaoblenergo" PJSC demanded a 7,000 hryvnias bribe from one of the entrepreneurs of the district for connection of a facility in "Solotvyno" recreation area to the electricity grid.
The head of the power company was arrested while receiving the second tranche of the bribe in the amount of 2 thousand hryvnias from the private entrepreneur, from whom he had already received 1 thousand hryvnias the day before.
He demanded the money for connection of a commercial facility, which is located on the territory of the recreation area "Salt Lakes" in the village of Solotvyno, Tyachiv district, to the electricity grid.
Currently, the searches at the place of work and residence are ongoing.
The official was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine.
