Border guards, patrol policemen, soldiers and commissars, athletes, volunteers, journalists, children, the mayor and even a priest were running in Uzhgorod to help sodliers, heroes of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The charity race "Running for a Soldier", dedicated to the Day of the Flag of Ukraine took place in the regional center of Transcarpathia for the first and, considering the success of the event, perhaps not the last time.
135 participants ran one or two laps across the main bridges of Uzhgorod in order to support Transcarpathian soldiers, who returned from the war with serious diseases – Ivan Hovbel and Anton Savko.
The event was also called "The run of winners", because its spirit was extremely positive, and this is what the project "This way we’ll win" emphasizes on. Therefore each participant is the winner of the run. Although, as in every sporting event, the results, of course, were recorded. So, among women, Oksana Dyba, Olga Tkachova and Marina Yatsola, and among men, Fedir Petkanych, Andriy Kirilyuk and Vasyl Durd. took the third, the second and the first place, respectively, and received prizes. Also, they awarded the oldest participant (who was given a bottle of Transcarpathian brandy) – Natalia Bed, and the youngest (who was presented with a toy) – Denys Naiman, who is only 1 year and 11 months old and who took part together with his policeman dad.
The co-organizer of the event is U-Run – Uzhhorod Running Club, which encourages everyone to join an active lifestyle. And the Movement to support Transcarpathian soldiers and all the organizers of the project "This Way We’ll Win" invite to all its events, which will be taking place on August 23 and 24 – on the Day of the Flag and the Independence Day of Ukraine – in the complex "Owl’s Nest, on Rakoczy street and the park near it.
And the race brought not only the spirit of victory and unity, but also money. They managed to raise 5889 hryvnias, which will be used for the treatment of the soldiers.
