Recently, on 25 and 27 of June, at the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs office, two citizens of Ukraine were trying to import handbags and shoes in violation of the customs rules.
In the first case, a Ukrainian was returning from Portugal by a utility vehicle "Mercedes-Benz 416 CDI" through the "red corridor" of the customs post, where he filled out customs declaration.
As a result of customs control of the vehicle and the goods, according to the legislation, on the basis of risk management, the customs officers found the goods not indicated in the customs declaration and not declared during the oral survey, namely foreign men’s and women’s footwear of different brands, including: "Colires", "Guapssima", "Suncolor", "M&M" and others, of various models, sizes and colors in total amount of 248 pairs. Access to the detected goods was not obstructed.
In the other case, a citizen of Ukraine, returning from France by a car "Mercedes-Benz 519 CDI" through the "red corridor", filled out the customs declaration, stating his passport data, information about the vehicle and the presence of a foreign currency in the amount of 9,500 euros; the luggage with personal items in amount of 60 positions and a used washing machine costing 70 euros.
However, during the customs control of the said vehicle. the customs officers found the goods that were not indicated in the customs declaration and not declared during the oral survey, namely foreign women’s handbags of different brands, different models, sizes and colors in total amount of 12 pieces, foreign women’s footwear of different brands, including: "CHANEL", "DOLCE & GABBANA", "VALENTINO" etc., of different models, sizes and colors in total amount of 8 pairs; textile shorts made of synthetic material, size – XXL, brand – "HERMES", country of origion – Italy in amount of 1 piece. The above goods were transported in three plastic bags and one household bag in the luggage compartment of the car, on the floor. Access to the goods was not obstructed.
Both Ukrainian did not admit that the goods were their property, claiming that they had been asked to deliver them to Ukraine by citizens temporarily residing abroad.
Thus, citizens failed to provide in the prescribed manner the accurate information about the goods being transported across the customs border of Ukraine in the amount subject to a written declaration and taxation.
The reports were drawn up against them and, pursuant to Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the aforementioned goods, that are to be evaluated with the assistance of experts, were seized.
