NBU plans to reduce the amount of cash in the economy to 12%

The National Bank of Ukraine supports the further development of cashless circulation and reduction of the amount of cash in the economy to 12% in 2020.

This is stated in the post of the regulator on its Facebook page.

As noted, in the second quarter of 2015, Internet payments using payment cards amounted to over UAH 45 billion.

"More than 111 million transactions totaling almost 43 billion hryvnia have been carried out in Ukraine and in foreign online stores – less than 2 million payments totaling 2.5 billion hryvnia," – the statement reads.

"The NBU supports the further development of cashless circulation and reduction of the amount of cash in the economy to 12% in 2020 (at the end of 2014 it was 18%)," – the press service informed.

The National Bank said that since 2015 the level of cash in the economy has decreased by 2.3% to UAH 276.3 billion as of the end of August.
