The Ministry of Foreign Affairs still hopes for visa-free travel in May

It is too early to draw conclusions about the adoption of a decision on visa-free regime for Ukraine during the Riga Summit.

This was stated by the Speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebiynis at a briefing on Tuesday.

According to him, the likelihood of adoption of such decision should be assessed according to the results of work of the missions operating in Ukraine.

The diplomat said that as of today, the European Commission is finishing the study of Ukraine’s implementation of the action plan for visa liberalization.

Thus, last week, EU experts visited Kyiv, evaluated the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. "The preliminary opinions, according to our information, were positive," – Perebiynis said.

Also this week, from 23 to 27 of March, in Ukraine, there will be missions for evaluation of anti-corruption activities, law enforcement cooperation in fight against organized crime and drug trafficking, and fight against human trafficking.

"Those are missions working as part of the implementation of the second phase of the action plan for liberalization of visa regime between Ukraine and the European Union", – he said.
