Having wormed his way into the confidence of an old friend, a man seized his mobile phone. The thief faces up to three years in prison.
The victim appealed to the police and said that he had lost his phone in the electric train "Korosten-Shepetivka". One of the passengers on several occasions asked him to use his mobile phone and then disappeared with it.
The 53-year-old resident of Lviv said that the offender was his old friend.
At the platform of the railway station Shepetivka, patrol officers detained the suspect.
As the police at the station Zhytomyr found out, the man was heading home, as he had recently been released from prison. The 33-year-old native of Transcarpathian region was doing time in prison in Zhytomyr region for committing a crime under Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation of vehicle).
The actions of the offender have signs of a crime under Part 1 of Art.190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – Fraud. The punishment for committing this offense is up to three years in prison.
