Victory! Uzhgorod is getting rid of the boards on the supporting wall

Today, the executive committee finally adopted a long-awaited decision. The billboards, that were "decorating" the supporting wall on the embankment of the Uzh river, must go without the right to return. What is important, it applies to ALL the advertising media on the old stone wall. The "advertising trash" which has long been a sore in the eyes of the city residents and tourists and sparked protests from the community, today will become illegal because the decision of the executive committee must be signed in the evening.

However, the owners of boards will not be granted alternative permits for advertising in the city, though this option was discussed previously. According to the Acting Mayor V. Shchadey, they had previously offered the entrepreneurs to voluntarily remove the boards and receive permits for advertising elsewhere, but the agreement had not been reached. Now the permits will simply ne cancelled. And if they delay removing the illegal billboards, the appropriate measures will be taken.

So, Uzhgorod has a chance to begin the tourist season at least a bit more free of the "advertising trash."
