“Silver Tatosh” – the revival of the glory of past ages in Transcarpathia

To revive the glory of bygone eras in Transcarpathia, artists and the regional authorities hold large-scale festivals in the historic castles

On Tuesday, May 13, in the press center of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration, there was a press conference at which they talked about this year’s festival of medieval culture "Silver Tatosh."

According to the tenant of Chynadiyevo castle Yosyp Bartosz, who is a co-organizer of the festival, because of reduced flow of tourists to Transcarpathia, they considered whether it would be practical to hold the event at all. But the organizers approached this issue pragmatically: "Because artists and people of rich spiritual culture, despite the difficult socio-political situation in the country, always take part in such interesting events," – Mr. Bartosz said.

He also told the media what was awaiting for the guests of the festival. This includes master classes from knight fighters, making of articles of pottery, barrels, drawing, a large range of dolls and a lot of other interesting things. By the way, some schools of Transcarpathia submitted their applications for taking part in the large-scale festival.

Co-organizer of the festival "Silver Tatosh" Yuriy Slavik said that the 3rd international event will be attended by guests not only from neighboring EU countries – Hungary and Slovakia, but also from Serbia and Belarus. "We worked well on the concept of the festival, adding variety to the historical and architectural buildings in the castle to fully recreate the living history", – Mr. Slavik said and added. – For kids, children’s playgrounds are provided. Although entrance to the festival is charged, but for children of preschool age the admission is free, for schoolchildren – for half the price, for journalists the entrance is also free. The aim of the festival is the educational process of the society, to see history not from books, but in life", – Yuriy Slavik said.
