Czech Senate ratified the Agreement on EU-Ukraine Association

On December 10, Czech Senate (upper house of parliament – Ed.) ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

It was reported by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebiynis on his page on Twitter.

 

"The Senate of the Czech Republic today approved the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Thanks, senators. But especially, thanks the Czech people. We believe in the support of the House of Deputies of the Czech Parliament" – he wrote.

52 out of 67 senators present voted for the ratification of the agreement, 3 voted against, the Radio Svoboda informed.

The agreement was proposed for ratification by the Czech Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek.

"We try to help Ukraine to become consolidated. If it works then, hopefully, it will continue to grow as a nation, which is of extremely great interest for us. It was interesting for us and it could be so again," – he said.

It should be noted that earlier, the Ukraine Association Agreement with the European Union have been ratified by Poland, Hungary, Sweden, Estonia, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta and Romania.

On September 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament simultaneously ratified the document.

On November 1, the so-called provisional application of the Association Agreement began.
