A resident of Beregovo was sentenced for possession and sale of illegal weapons

According to the verdict of Beregovo district court of Transcarpathian region, a resident of Beregovo, 62-year-old Mykola was sentenced for carrying, possession and manufacturing of firearms, namely the rifle "IZH" redesigned to fire small-caliber ammunition.

As it turned out, from August 2013 to January 2014, the man hiding the homemade 5,6 mm caliber rifle at his home under the bed. In late January, he tried to sell this illegal weapon.  In the evening, he brought the rifle hidden in a pouch to Pushkin Street in Beregovo to meet with the buyer. The latter paid 400 UAH for the rifle, but suddenly police officers appeared and thwarted the deal.

The rifle and the money was seized, the indident was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations under Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. After completing the investigation, the criminal case was sent to court.

Beregovo District Court, having considered the criminal proceeding, pleaded Mykola guilty as charged under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to three years imprisonment. But under Art. 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, due to sincere repentance of the latter, the court released the man from serving the sentence with probation period of 2 years.
