Large-scale reorganization of the traffic police: there will be more crews on the road and in the bushes

After the reorganization and expansion of the State Traffic Police the number of traffic policemen on roads will increase

District and city traffic police departments will be removed from under the authority of city and district police stations and will be transferred directly to the authority of regional departments of traffic police, which are parts of regional offices of regional traffic police.

City and districts police departments were transferred to the authority of local police units in 2011. Then the staff of these units was reduced, causing discontent of the management of the Department.The reorganization will improve the management of the units. It is also possible that the staff of traffic police departments will be expanded.

Human rights activist, the author of the book "100 arguments against the traffic police fines" Volodymyr Karavayev is skeptical about the effectiveness of such reorganization.

"Traffic police should pay attention to the quality of traffic organization – for example to eliminate traffic jams and causes of their occurrence. However, the expansion of the staff can not solve all the problems, because only a few people will be dealing with the organization of traffic, but the number of traffic policemen near the roads in the bushes will increase," – Karavayev says.
