The Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Zsolt Neymet: “The agreement with the Transcarpathian Regional Council is the success of cross-border cooperation”

On Wednesday, December 18, after signing an agreement on cooperation in the implementation of development projects carried out in the framework of the Eastern Partnership, the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Zsolt Neymet, the Transcarpathian Regional Council chairman Ivan Baloha and the charity fund manager Vasyl Brenzovych attended the press conference for the Hungarian media.

First of all, it was noted that the first phase of the agreement, which was launched in March last year was extremely successful. Hungary has invested one million dollars in 56 projects on energy saving, repair and reconstruction of social institutions in Transcarpathia – universities, schools, preschools and others, providing them with modern training equipment and sports equipment. Zsolt Neymet said that the agreement he had signed with the head of the Regional Council Ivan Baloha a year ago was one of the best examples of effective Ukrainian-Hungarian partnership. The result of the agreement was that in all 13 administrative municipalities of Transcarpathia, the facilities of humanitarian sphere were upgraded.         

 

According to Ivan Baloha, the agreement has definitely facilitated in the revival of humanitarian contacts – both in relationships between authorities, and at the level of interpersonal communication.

Zsolt Neymet said that during the visit of the Transcarpathian delegation they had signed a new cooperation agreement between the Transcarpathian Regional Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary for 2014. The agreement provides that each party will allocate funds in the amount equivalent to 500 thousand U.S. dollars. By March next year, the list of objects that are to be co-financed under this agreement will have been agreed.

Also Ivan Baloha greeted Hungarian partners on the Christmas holidays that will be celebrated in Hungary in a few days.

Vasyl Brenzovych noted that the agreement was the most significant in recent years.
