The Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region exposed and eliminated another channel for smuggling of foreign citizens across the state border of Ukraine.
The Security Service of Ukraine stopped the activities of a criminal group that organized a channel of illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine outside checkpoints.
During the raid, in a private dwelling in Vynogradiv district of Transcarpathian region, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained five members of the criminal group. In the same building, there was a group of illegal immigrants – 4 Afghans and 3 citizens of the Republic of Sri Lanka, that were planned to be smuggled to Slovakia.
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region initiated the criminal proceeding for the crime under Part 2 of Art. 332 (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The investigation is ongoing.
