How Transcarpathians passed the external testing this year and what they should consider during admission to the university

On Tuesday, July 14, during the press conference at the press center of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, the participants discussed the results of the external independent testing in 2015 in Transcarpathia and features of this year’s admission campaign to universities.

         The Director of the Education Department of the Regional State Administration Mykhailo Motylchak and the vice-rector of UzhNU  Igor Korol talked to journalists.

         This year 10,614 people took part in the external testing, including 8,962 this year’s graduates.

"In general, people were taking testing on the following subjects: Ukrainian language and literature, foreign language (French, German, Spanish, English, Russian), mathematics, biology, history of Ukraine, physics, geography and chemistry – the official informed. – 23 persons were suspended for violation of the procedure – use of mobile phones during tests."

Mykhailo Motylchak briefed journalists on the testing results in Transcarpathia. According to the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment, the region received 25 certificates with the highest score of 200 points. In addition, 514 Transcarpathians received high scores for Ukrainian language and literature, 3,896 people received the elementary scores.     

Also, the chief educator of the region told how medalists in the region confirmed their knowledge, citing specific figures. According to him, there were 567 contenders for gold and silver medals in Transcarpathia. According to the results of the final attestation (testing in Ukrainian language and literature) 400 contenders for medals confirmed their results, which is 70.5%.    

Igor Korol informed on the peculiarities of the admission campaign at higher educational institutions. According to him, this year, entrants can submit a maximum of 15 applications in 5 universities and for 3 specialties in each. 

Acceptance of applications for admission to higher educational institutions began on July 10 and will last until July 31. For applicants who take entrance examinations, the deadline for submission of applications is July 24.

One of the features of this year’s admission campaign is two new categories of privileged applicants. "The first one is that children, one of whose parents died during the performance of military duties, are admitted out of the competition. The second one is that demobilized persons, who have participated in the ATO and therefore could not have taken the external testing, are eligible to enter based on the results of entrance examinations in higher education institutions", – Igor Korol said.
