Visa-free regime with the European Union for the citizens of Ukraine, who hold biometric passports, may take effect in 2015. This was announced by the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis live on Ukrainian television in the evening on November 10.
"We plan to start issuing biometric passports on the 1st of January. If we succeed, and I’m sure we will, then in 2015, we can talk about the beginning of a visa-free regime for citizens of Ukraine, who are holders of biometric passports, for entry into the Schengen zone," – Perebyinis said.
Recall that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated 150 million hryvnias for the purchase of about 600 terminals for issuing biometric passports.
