A resident of Chop found in his backyard a tombstone of a rabbi who died in 1939

The city government wants to restore historical justice regarding the former Jewish cemetery
The owners of a private home in Chop accidentally dug out during the repair four slabs, which turned out to be part of the tombstone of a local rabbi who died in 1939. The tombstone was handed over to the city hall, as the local authorities intend to fix up the former Jewish cemetery.  This was reported by the "Chop news".
According to the report, before the Second World War a large Jewish community lived in Chop, the vast majority of them were repressed by the Nazis. Only decades later, local history enthusiasts began restoring Chop’s historical monuments. Late last month, a memorial sign was opened at the Reformed Cemetery in Chop.
