A cultural route for tourists will be formed in the Transcarpathian village, the only one where hunyas are made

A new project has been launched in Transcarpathia: "Creating a cultural route "The Way of Hunya" that is implemented by the "Transcarpathian Regional Development Agency." The purpose of the project is the formation of a cultural route in the village of Richka in Mizhhirya district, which will popularize traditional crafts – manufacture of natural wool products, promote the development of rural tourism and increase the possibility of sustainable economic development of the region.
The village of Richka is the only one in the region where hunyas and other wool products are made. The tourist route will be an innovative product that will combine natural landscapes of the Borzhava valley, traditional crafts and the production of clothes from sheep’s wool by craftsmen.
The main objectives of the project are:
– development and marking of a pedestrian tourist route in the village of Richka;
– training for manufacturers of traditional clothing in the region and representatives of the tourism business. Manufacturers will be taught how to promote their product, to monetize the ancient traditions of the village.
– active promotion and popularization of traditional crafts through the media and social networks, by creating the site "The Way of the Hunya".
The project started on June 1 and will last until the end of October this year. The total budget is UAH 373,781 (funds of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation).
The project is supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation in the framework of the grant program "Culture. Tourism.
