Ukrainians have withdrawn 86 billion hryvnia from bank deposits

As of June 4, the outflow of retail deposits in Ukraine since the beginning of the year was about 86 billion hryvnia, or 19.2%.

This was announced by the head of the National Bank Stepan Kubiv, the UNIAN informed.

According to the head of the NBU, the proportions of outflow of hryvnia and the U.S. dollar deposits were equal.

"The proportion of dollar to hryvnia is 45% to 55%. That is, almost 50/50" – Kubiv said.

He also noted that the outflow of deposits from Crimean bank branches was 22 billion hryvnia.

As reported, the political situation in Ukraine had a negative impact on the banking system, particularly since the beginning of this year, the official exchange rate of hryvnia against the dollar has depreciated by more than 40% – to 11.66 per dollar at the exchange rate on May 26.

The volume of deposits in Ukrainian banks in April fell by 0.3% to 378.6 billion UAH in local currency and by 4.1% to 25.5 billion dollars in foreign currency.

Since the beginning of the year, in January-April, the amount of deposits in local currency has decreased by 10.3%, in foreign currency – by 17.3%.
