STS investigation department in Transcarpathian district completed preliminary investigation against five members of an organized criminal group. They are suspected of producing alcoholic beverages with substandard materials that pose a threat to human life and health, as well as of forgery of tax stamps. The indictment act has been drawn up and approved by the prosecutor and the criminal case was forwarded to court.
As previously reported, late last year the tax police of Transcarpathia eliminated the most massive in recent years illegal production of counterfeit alcohol products with substandard alcohol and counterfeit tax stamps. The said products were produced almost in industrial amounts. Conclusions of the examination confirmed the suspicions of non-compliance of alcoholic beverages with applicable standards, and the fact of forgery of excise stamps.
During the preliminary investigation they conducted a number of searches, during which they found and seized items of criminal activity worth about 600,000 UAH: a car, 8,000 liters of alcohol, 3,000 bottles of counterfeit alcohol products, more than 3 thousand counterfeit excise stamps, 47,000 UAH obtained through criminal activity.
"Investigators of the tax police proved illegal activities of the organized criminal group, each member of which knew their functions, participated in the develoment and implementation of the plan. According to the Criminal Code, these crimes are punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of illegally produced goods and forfeiture of manufacturing equipment," – the deputy head of the tax police department, the chief investigator of STS in Transcarpathian region Mykhailo Shukost said.
