August 8, in the Slovak town of Zilina, the sixth traditional tournament "Cup of the Slavs" was held. The competition was attended by representatives of nine Slavic countries: Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Belarus, Bulgaria, Poland, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. Ukraine was represented by members of the Carpathian League of Strongmen Grigorovsky Ivan (Uzhgorod), Ilyin Kostyantin (Chernivtsi) and Tsyfra Volodymyr (Velyky Berezny). After a fierce struggle, the competition was won by 23-year-old Mathias Belshak from Slovenia, who beat his old rival Kostyantin Ilyin who returned to the competition after a half-year break caused by two serious injuries. Igor Petrik took the third prize. Grigorovsky Ivan and Tsyfra Volodymyr took the eighth and the tenth places. By the way, Ivan, was the oldest participant (41), and Volodymyr was the youngest (22 years old). An interesting fact – for the six years of the tournament, no one has yet managed to win twice.
