According to the Transcarpathian Center of Hydrometeorology, on March 4 and 5, a sunny, dry weather is expected, with night air temperatures in the highlands equal to 7 to 13 degrees below zero. In the mountains of Transcarpathia the distribution of snow cover is very uneven, sizeable swells and cornices are observed.
Generally, the snow cover is thick and stable. On steep slopes (more 30 degrees), especially in the southern and south-western slopes, due to daily heating, the snowpack becomes moderately and weakly stable, therefore on March 4 and 5, there is a danger of creating artificial avalanches, cornice collapses, provoked by people, even with a slight extra load.
The Department of State Emergencies Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region calls all tourists – both novices and experienced travelers – to be careful and extremely vigilant during the winter holidays in the mountains.
