With the onset of warm season, the attempts of illegal migrants to illegally cross the Ukrainian border have slightly intensified. Over the past two days, border guards of the Chop Detachment arrested four groups of persons who tried to cross Ukrainian-Slovakian border. Currently, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine strengthens its measures against illegal travels.
Thus, as a result of planned action, firstly border guards detained two citizens of Syria and one Egyptian. They were "travelling" in the darkness through the mountains to Slovakia. As in most cases, the detainees were unable to confirm his nationality as they did not have any documents.
Later, after receiving information about a group of unknown persons near the border, the operational group detained a "quartet" of men without documents. According to the detainees, they were citizens of Bangladesh and were trying to to get to Slovakia to continue their way to other countries in Western Europe. Later it turned out that Bangladeshis had arrived in Ukraine officially. They were invited to study in Mykolayiv State University.
During further inspection of the area, border guards detected two more unknown persons without documents. One of them was a woman who said that she was a citizen of Eritrea, and another – a man who "introduced" himself as a citizen of Cote d’Ivoire. In a short while, representatives of Asia and Africa were joined by four citizens of Georgia who also tried to get into the European community via Transcarpathia.
All 13 offenders were taken to the border unit to clarify the circumstances of the offense and make administrative and procedural documents. Decision on the futher fate of all detainees will be taken by the court.
