On March 9, in Bozdosh Park there was an open cycling championship of Uzhgorod that was organized by the Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Youth Tourism and Sports with the support of the regional cycling federation and the Municipal Department of Culture, Sport, Youth and Family.
Athletes from Uzhgorod, Mukachevo and Svalyava participated in the competition. All cyclists were divided into four age categories: girls and boys born in 2002 and younger (distance about 1 km), boys born in 1999-2001 (2.5 km), girls and boys born in 1996-1998 (the main category – 4 km ), the athletes born in 1995 and older (10.5 km).
Due to continuous rain, the route turned into a muddy mess. But, despite this, the competition was a real treat for fans of cycling. The route was very difficult: multiple turns, no straight sections, a considerable number of small descent-ups, many different logs to jump over. No one managed to make the distance at the top speed, they just did not fit into the turns. Many falls and skids fueled the atmosphere of the race, some obstacles were very difficult to overcome, some of the youngest cyclists even cried. The competition was tough.
After all the races, the winners were awarded with medals and diplomas. The main start of the year for cyclists will be the third cycling championship of Ukraine among juniors that will be held in July in Kirovohrad region.
