The Parliament banned alienation of property for foreign currency loans

The Parliament adopted a moratorium on alienation of property of citizens pledged to obtain foreign currency loans.

241 MPs voted for the decision.

The adoption of the moratorium was a major concern for MPs and caused considerable controversy in the hall.

As a result, people’s representatives managed to gather votes for the moratorium, which is aimed to protect citizens from alienation of property until the working group in the Parliament manages to develop a law on the restructuring of foreign currency loans.

The moratorium prohibits the alienation of housing in area of up to 140 square meters and will not cover MPs, judges, prosecutors and state officials of 1-3 categories.
