The European Union has given 24 million euros for the development of local communities in Ukraine

EU allocates a further 24 million euros for the implementation of 1330 small local initiatives in villages and small towns across Ukraine. 

This is stated in the bulletin of the EU Delegation in Ukraine – the Ekonomichna Pravda informed.   

As noted, on May 20, in Kyiv, they officially launched the third phase of the CBA Project – the largest EU project in Ukraine – funded and implemented in cooperation with UNDP.   

"As in the first and the second phases, the third phase of the project (CBA-III) will encourage initiatives of local communities throughout Ukraine. The aim is to improve living conditions in rural areas and small towns. Particular attention is paid to promoting decentralization and the introduction of energy efficient technologies," – the statement says.

The project is based on the idea that sustainable regional development depends on effective local governance and active community participation.

Control and active role of communities are particularly effective if they are aimed at solving the problems identified by residents themselves.
