The Cabinet closed the Solotvyno salt mine. 339 million will be spent for the liquidation

To avoid ecological catastrophe, the Solotvyno salt mine will be closed. Such decision was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on March 4, 2013.

In the area of mine workings of the State Enterprise "Solotvyno salt mine", the emergency situation arised – there is an uncontrolled flooding of the mines.

The conclusions of scientists who have studied the issue is categorical: further development of the salt mine resources and provision of services to allergological hospitals under the current circumstances is impossible, so the operation of the enterprise is unsafe.

In order to prevent accidents and possible casualties, it was decided to liquidate the SE "Solotvyno salt mine" in Tyachiv district, Transcarpathian region.

339 million hryvnias will be spent for the liquidation and environmental rehabilitation of the affected area, the expected duration of works is 7 years – reported the Government Portal.
