In Uzhgorod, there was an extended meeting of the board of the Education and Science, Youth and Sports Department of the RSA. It was attended by teachers from all over the region. The administrator of the executive staff of the Regional Council Mykhailo Popovich also took part in the event.
At the beginning of the meeting, they awarded students, who were the winners of the IV stage of the National School Olympics, and teachers, who taught them, as well as the winners of the III stage of the All-Ukrainian contest of scientific and research works of students – members of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Awards were presented by the head of the RSA Valeriy Lunchenko and the administrator of the regional council executive staff Mykhailo Popovich.
At the meeting, they discussed the preparation of schools for the new school year.
Overall, this year’s regional deputies provided in the regional budget 36 million hryvnias to implement 11 regional educational programs.
In the summer, at the regional council session, additional 18,400,000 UAH was allocated from the regional budget to districts and cities in the region to improve the logistics of educational institutions, create appropriate conditions for quality education.
The Regional Council is actively working to attract additional funds for improving the resource base of schools and kindergartens. For this purpose, they participate in the cross-border cooperation, partnership programs of the European Union and other international financial institutions. Thus, in 2012-2013, under the Agreement between the Transcarpathian Regional Council and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary under the EU Eastern Partnership program, more than 70 projects in energy efficiency, repairs of the facilities and other measures were implemented in schools and preschool institutions of the region totaling in more than 18 million hryvnias. 13 administrative units were involved in the implementation of the agreement. Nearly 30 of such projects in the field of education in agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary will be implemented this year, amounting to more than 8 million hryvnias.
10 joint investment projects in education, early childhood education, culture and health care were implemented last year under the program of partnership with the Vysocina region of the Czech Republic.
