The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Valeriy Lunchenko, the Consul General of Slovakia in Uzhgorod Janka Burianova and the acting head of the Chop customs Igor Strichyk, today, June 4, attended the customs checkpoint "Uzhgorod". The purpose of their meeting at the intersection of the borders of Ukraine and Slovakia was the humanitarian aid to the civilian population, which arrived to the customs checkpoint in Uzhgorod for customs clearance.
The provision of aid for military personnel and their families, displaced from the Crimea to the mainland of Ukraine, was initiated by the Office of Emergency Situations of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic. In particular, the aid includes: generators, lighting devices, tableware, etc., for a total of over 28,000 EUR. Employees of the Chop customs performed the procedure of customs formalities carried out promptly and in accordance with applicable law.
As part of the attraction of humanitarian aid to civilians of troubled regions of Ukraine, redeployed soldiers of the Armed Forces of our country, the protection of critical infrastructure in view of military aggression by the Russian Federation, on April 17, 2014, the Mission of Ukraine to NATO sent a request for appropriate assistance to NATO countries through the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre that is subject to the NATO Civil Emergency Planning Committee.
Slovakia responded to this request. Today, the truck with the humanitarian aid crossed the border of Ukraine, and soon the cargo will be delivered to the final destination.
