High speed race on the Goverla "Goverla race" took place a few days ago. This is so-called skyrunning (a type of climbing). The participants say that it is a race of the heart muscle in the mountainous area. More than 100 participants of all ages from different cities of Ukraine and Romania took part in the race in the Carpathians. They were running on two distances: 8 and 16 km. The best result in the 8 km distance was 1:06:45, in the 16 km distance – 2:11:16.
What is encouraging is that there were girls among the participants. In particular, our mountain conqueror Hanna Ponomarenko. She said that skyrunning is very popular in the world, but here, it is just gaining popularity. She says it was a bit difficult, but she had had some practice on the Caucasus. The oldest participant of the race – a 64-year-old Valeriy Bozhenov of Mariupol – also added optimism. The man runs almost a marathon a day, and tries not to miss a single competition in the world.
