Patriots Day

August 24, 2014, in Uzhgorod, on Teatralna Square, there will be a crowded patriotic holiday "With Ukraine in heart!" prepared by the general public on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the Act of Independence of Ukraine. Volunteers of the movement to support Transcarpathian soldiers will also be working in the city center.

14.00 – The beginning of the artistic program "With Ukraine in heart!" involving the winners of the XI International festival of young talents "Rekitske Constellation 2014", the student self-government of Uzhgorod, the children’s collective "Veselka" and the choir "Credo."
15.00 – Unfurling of the 100-meter-long flag of Ukraine and solemn march in embroidered shirts on the streets of the city – through S.Petofi Sq. to the monument to Taras Shevchenko.
15.30 – Popular Assembly near the monument to Taras Shevchenko on Narodna Sq. dedicated, among other things, to the victims of deportations and ethnic cleansing with signs of genocide on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the beginning of the deportations of Ukrainian by Polish People’s Republic in 1944-1951.
Chas Zakarpattya invites all Uzhgorod residents and guests to take part in the historical for the Ukrainian people celebration of the Independence Day – in time of armed struggle in the east of the state for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
Dress code of the holiday is national costumes and state flags. Every citizen will have the opportunity to touch a giant flag (100 x 1.5 m), to lay flowers at the foot of the monument, to pray and honor with a moment of silence the heroes of the Heaven’s Hundred and heroes of the current Russian-Ukrainian war, who gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine.
