For almost a year, residents of the houses № 39-45 on Ermak street in Uzhgorod were asking the former city government to repair street lights. According to the lawyer Vasyl Popovich, in late May, people appealed to the acting mayor Victor Shchadey. This week, the utility repaired the lighting on the street.
"For two years we had no street lighting. In the evening, especially in winter, it was impossible to drive or walk on the street. But yesterday, they repaired all the lights from the beginning to the end of the street. It’s even more than we asked for," – Volodymyr Pavley, a local resident said.
"Street lighting along with roads and wastes are among the biggest problems of Uzhgorod, – the acting mayor Victor Shchadey said. – Currently, we are finishing repairing the highways and by the end of the next month we will begin repairing areas inside the blocks, and then will take up the street lighting. Autumn and winter season is fast approaching, and for the comfort and safety of Uzhgorod residents we must do everything to make lights on the streets of the city working."
