The 35th consecutive racing competition Stropkovská dvadsiatka took place on May 10 with undisputable domination of Kenyan runners 29-year-old Moses Masai (finalist of several Olympics and World Championship bronze medalist) and 34-year-old Hillary Kiptum Kimayo. On the half marathon distance (21 km 97 m), the Africans gained a confident victory: Masai crossed the track in 1:07.57, Kimayo – 2 seconds later. The strongest runner of Slovakia Tibor Sachaida won the bronze medal – 1:08.42. For most of the race, 24-year-old Serhiy Raschupkin from Mukachevo was trying to compete with experienced competitors, but he was not strong enough…
Transcarpathian veterans of athletics were more successful on that day. In the category of athletes over 40 years of age Orest Babiak (1:13:49) and Anatoly Maly (1:16:48) from Uzhgorod took second and third places, and 57-year-old Dmytro Ivanysh (1:26.41) was the silver medalist in his age group.
