On May 23, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine in Kyiv hosted the awarding ceremony of the International Translators’ Contest named after Susanna Roth-2019. The contest, which is being held for the fifth time by the Czech centers network and the Czech literary center in Prague and Brno, is aimed at supporting foreign translators and scholars under the age of 40, as well as promotion of Czech literature abroad. It is named after Susanna Roth (1950-1997), a well-known Swiss Slavist, translator of works by Czech writers.

This year, the contestants competed in translation of several chapters from the debut novel of young Czech writer Anna Cima "Probudím se na Šibuji" published last year at the Prague publishing house "Paseka". The competition was quite tough: 37 translators from all over Ukraine took part in it. And the work of a participant from Uzhgorod Lyubov Pavlyshyn was recognized as the best translation. The diploma for the first place was presented to the winner personally by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Kyiv, Radek Matula. As the main prize, Lyubov received the right to participate in the international seminar, which will take place in July 2019 in Prague and Usti nad Labem.
