The regional administration has appealed to the government asking to save the state enterprise "Transcarpathian helicopter production association" and restore its core business. The First Deputy Governor Andriy Serbaylo sent the relevant letter to the First Deputy Minister of Industrial Policy Mykola Yevdokymenko.
This enterprise established in 1978 used to be one of strategic ones. It produced units for the aviation industry, in particular as far back as in 1984 – units to light helicopters Mi-34. Then, the company employed more than three thousand professionals, it was known throughout the Union. But after the collapse of the Soviet Union, amount of orders decreased tenfold, and then the production was almost halted.
After the reorganization, the company was transferred to the subordination of the Ministry of Industrial Policy, but real support from the state has not been provided.
Today the company still employs about 100 people. The enterprise started manufacturing large-diameter parabolic antennas. However, more than 4.5 thousand square meters of premises and equipment of the plant is not used.
Regional authorities are asking MIP to take immediate measures to ensure the preservation and effective activity of the state enterprise "Transcarpathian helicopter production association" or decide on a full privatization of the company.
