In Transcarpathia, the 25th anniversary of the RUKH will be celebrated (announcement)

On September 10, in Transcarpathia, in the regional and district centers, there will be events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the socio-political organization "People’s Movement of Ukraine" (RUKH). 

The appropriate decree was signed by the head of the RSA, the People’s Deputy Valeriy Lunchenko on August 4. Also, the "governor" instructed to organize in libraries of the region themed book exhibitions, to hold open reviews of literature, literary hours devoted to the 25th anniversary of the social and political organization.

In the region, the RUKH was established in the summer of 1989.  In the Uzhgorod Club of Writers, on July 21, 1989, there was a meeting of citizens, where they elected a working group for preparation of the inaugural conference of the regional PMU. Petro Skunts became the first head of the organization. Today, according to the State Registration Service of Ukraine, Transcarpathian Regional organization of the People’s Movement of Ukraine is headed by as many as 18 people.
