With the start of full capacity of the pipeline "Voyany-Uzhgorod", Ukraine can cover more than 50% of its gas import needs by supplies from the European Union.
This was announced by the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Prodan, the "Interfax-Ukraine" reported.
"The volume of reverse supply that we can receive from Slovakia is currently estimated at 8 to 10 billion cubic meters a year… Taking into account Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, we can cover more than 50% of our needs in imported gas," – he told reporters in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The Minister said that these gas corridors would allow to supply to Ukraine about 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Also, Prodan noted that "Gazprom" attempts to influence European partners so that they do not sell gas to Ukraine.
"There are attempts of "Gazprom" to close reverse supply, to influence the European operators in the negotiations with them," – the Minister said.
