Four experts from UzhNU helped to identify the bodies of the downed “Boeing” passengers

Recently, in Ukraine, in the area of military conflicts and plane crashes, there have been a lot of victims – both citizens of Ukraine and subjects of foreign states, whose bodies need to be identified.

In 2010, the "Forensic Dentistry Research and Training Center" was established in Uzhgorod University, which is also the regional department of the International Organization for Forensic Odonto-Stomatology in Ukraine – the Media Centre of UzhNU informs.

Specialists of this center were involved in the complex forensic examinations of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for the identification of unknown persons, including the victims of the MN17 "Boeing-777" aircraft crash.

Four experts on dental identification – the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Yevhen Kostenko and employees of the Forensic Dentistry RTC Mykhailo Slivka, Ostap Beley, Miroslav Goncharuk-Khomyn – were sent to help their colleagues in the Kyiv forensic examination office.

After completing the mission, the experts discussed a number of issues, including the extension of the identification service and the need for the creation of DVI (Disasters Victims’ Identification) team of Interpol, which will also involve experts of our Forensic Dentistry RTC.
