1. Suspended coffee
These photos are all that is left of the old wall near the Cathedral. Similar to Italian brick fences in the South, it formed the perspective on Kapitulna street and was an integral part of the architectural ensemble in the protection zone on the Castle Hill. However, during the reconstruction of the future Bachinskiy Square, the old wall, as it often happens in Uzhgorod, one day just disappeared… One could ignore this issue or say that there are other more glaring architectural violations in Uzhgorod… But the problem is that this destruction occurs in the special, historic area of the city, and it raises a number of problems that distort space.
When my friends in Germany want to throw away a tea bag, they tear it in half: paper – into one basket, and biological waste – into another… “There must be Ordnung in everything,” – they say, that is order… But it becomes much more complicated when it is not usual household waste, such as the mentioned tea bag, but radioactive waste from nuclear power plants…

The Uzhhorod children’s railway has not been working since 2009. Back then, the management of the railway concluded that the track was unprofitable. Thre years later, local authorities agreed to be responsible for the remains of the railroad. The representatives of the state giant corporation ‘Ukrzaliznytsia’ were glad to get rid of the burden.
