The deputy Vasyl Hnatkiv initiated the consideration of the draft decision, which proposed to abolish the increase of bus fares in Uzhgorod.
As Victor Shchadey argued, the month that has passed since the rise, showed no improvement in quality of transportation: pensioners continue to complain, buses are in poor condition, drivers do not adhere to the schedule …
In response to that, Bohdan Andriyiv (a deputy and a carrier business owner) said that "the tariff was calculated not by businessmen, but by the relevant department of the city council, it is reasonable, and the draft decision is a PR and if we adopt it, we will put the industry at a standstill."
After a rather lively discussion, the deputies rejected the draft decision on the return of the old prices with 37 votes.
So bus fares in Uzhgorod will remain higher than in many regional centers of Ukraine.
