At the UzhNU, they want to teach Ukrainian language to foreign students and are planning to teach in English

At the UzhNU, they are considering the introduction of teaching in English to attract foreign students. Teaching in a foreign language also increases the chances of UzhNU to rank high in ratings of universities. The issue was raised at the meeting of the Academic Council of UzhNU, during the speech of the dean of the medical faculty professor Oleksandr Boldizhar. According to the Dean, at the 15 departments of the medical faculty, there are only about 10 teachers who could teach the subject in English, the report circulated by the press service of the university states. 

The Rector of UzhNU professor Volodymyr Smolanka noted that speaking a foreign language and teaching specialized subjects in it are different things. "Teaching in English is really difficult. The level of teaching in foreign languages in Ukrainian universities is insufficient, and this is the overall situation in Ukraine, – Volodymyr Smolanka said. – But the opportunity to learn in English is one of the prospects for the development of our university. We will ask each department to select suitable professionals." 

According to the rector, the UzhNU has also applied for a license for pre-university teaching of Ukrainian language to foreign students. "Our task is primarily to make students, who want to study in Uzhgorod National University, learn Ukrainian language", – Volodymyr Smolanka said.
