Assets of banks in Ukraine fell by 15 billion hryvnia over the month

Assets of banks in Ukraine in May compared to April 2014 fell by 15 billion hryvnia, or by 1.13% – to 1.315 trillion hryvnia.

This was reported by "UNIAN" with reference to the information of the National Bank of Ukraine.

According to the NBU, since the beginning of the year, from January to May, an increase of assets amounted to 37 billion hryvnia, or 2.9%.

Total assets of banks, not adjusted for the amount of reserves, in May compared to April, fell by 7 billion hryvnia or by 0.47% – to 1,475 trillion hryvnia.

Since the beginning of the year, total assets grew by 66 billion hryvnia, or by 4.68%.

Banks liabilities in May fell by 6 billion hryvnia or by 0.52% – to 1.156 trillion hryvnia, since the beginning of the year, they have increased by 60 billion hryvnia, or by 5.53%.

The capital of banks in May fell to 8.648 billion hryvnia, or by 4.84% – to 169.852 billion hryvnia, since the beginning of the year – by 22.747 billion hryvnia, or by 11.81%.

As of June 1, 2014, 177 banks had the National Bank license to conduct banking activitiese, including one having a license of a sanation bank.
